Welcome

We recognise that for many Veterans and their families, aspects of life after leaving the Services can be challenging.  With over 50 Veterans’ organisations in Scotland alone, we understand that it can be frustrating to find just the right person to help with a problem.

For those who work in Veterans support organisations, please check out the Resources tab; there may be something useful for you there and because we are not perfect, there may be some resources and organisations that we have missed.

Because when Veterans work together, they make life better for Veterans.

The Veterans-Assist Scotland Website

We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties with the Veterans Assist website and hope to have these rectified soon.

The Veterans-Assist website has been set up to put in one place most of the resources you might need, whether it is finding the right school or college for you or your kids; options for somewhere to live; getting access to a War Disablement pension; or finding a route into employment.  You will find some topics duplicated under more than one heading; this is for ease of access and to make it more likely that you will find what you need.  If you are looking for information about services or support organisations you may be able to find what you need here.

The Scottish Veterans Fund

Established in 2008, the Scottish Veterans Fund has already allocated more than £1.3 million to over 150 projects that provide advice, help and support to veterans across Scotland, ranging from employability and housing support to befriending and wellbeing projects.

This year’s round of funding completes the current allocation of around £600,000 of funding, including £240,000 from Standard Life Aberdeen and £360,000 from the Scottish Government, made available through the Scottish Veterans Fund in the three years to 2019/20.

The Scottish Veterans Fund is now open to applications until 30 November 2018. As this is the last year of the current Fund applicants are only able to submit bids for one year projects.

Veterans Scotland Information Guide

This booklet includes details of the Armed Forces and Veterans Champions who have been established across Scotland to ensure that those who are serving and have served are not disadvantaged as a result of their service. It also brings together a wide range of help available to both the Armed Forces Community and those supporting them, the majority of which is available via the Internet. It lists some but not all of the organisations that provide support and advice to the Armed Forces Community. Additional information is available from the Veterans-Assist website.
